My name is Mara. I was born and raised in Mexico and moved to Canada 20 years ago.

Guided by a deep love for Mexican culture and tradition, I chose to dedicate my career to the flavours that shaped me.

I graduated from Conestoga College in Culinary Management and later continued my studies at ESGAMEX in Mexico, specializing in Mexican Culture & Gastronomy and the History of Mexican Cuisine. These experiences strengthened my commitment to honouring authentic techniques, ingredients, and stories.

Through La Divina, I celebrate Mexican cuisine with intention, using local, ethically sourced ingredients and, whenever possible, herbs we grow at home. For me, cooking is a way of sharing my heritage and creating food that nourishes both body and spirit.

I live in Waterloo with my husband Luke, our dog Caesar, and our cat Phoebe ,a small family that inspires the warmth and care behind everything we serve.
